What is ELARA?

ELARA is a complete educational platform, built around a next generation highly realistic client simulator and supervision engine with aligned rubric lenses. It brings simulated practice, reflective and deliberate practice and supervision together, so learners can sequentially develop the professional competencies required for real-world practice.

Who is ELARA for?

Psychology, social work, counselling, occupational therapy and allied health programs; workforce and NGO services; government departments and agencies whose staff work with people in complex situations; and researchers.

Are ELARA's clients real people?

No. ELARA's clients are simulated, and their faces and voices are AI-generated and profile-matched. Each simulated client has a stable psychological and social profile, developmental history, experiential memories and inner world.

Do the clients follow a script?

No. Your client responds to what you actually say, and recalls previous sessions and how you related with them, so you can practise over multiple therapeutic sessions.

Does ELARA replace supervision or placements?

No. ELARA is designed to complement, not replace, supervision and field education placements. Learners can practise again and again, make mistakes and grow with structured feedback, without exposing real clients, families or communities to risk.

What happens in a session?

Every session follows the same clear path: choose your client, skills and level, read a short briefing, hold the conversation, reflect on your practice, then receive ELARA supervision.

Can ELARA be set up for our course?

Yes. ELARA is modular. Together with ELARA, you choose the client libraries, skills modules and levels that fit your curriculum or workplace training. ELARA's administrators set your course up, and it is locked for the teaching term, so every learner practises the same course. Needs confirmation

How does ELARA keep sessions safe?

Simulated clients are instructed to stay in character, and never to give therapeutic advice or step into the therapist's role. Clear simulated-client labelling, and a "Need support?" button with Australian crisis lines, are in development.

Is there evidence that ELARA works?

ELARA is currently being evaluated in multiple research projects in 2026. Outcomes will be published when available.

Can ELARA be used for research?

Yes. Each simulated client has a stable profile, so every participant meets the same client. Research & Governance mode adds export-ready, de-identified datasets and cohort tracking, to support pilot studies, PhD research and governance oversight. Needs confirmation
